It can be hard to know exactly what you want, when looking to get eyelash extensions. Even harder to know what is happening while having your lashes done.
I wish we had a pound for every time we heard “I had semi-permanent lashes applied but they have ruined my lashes” or “when I had Classic lashes done last they only took 20 minutes, why do yours take so much longer?”.
We are going to divulge the lash world terminology and help you to understand what your lash artist does while your eyes are closed.
Application
Carrying out this treatment requires a considerable amount of training and practice. Each lash is isolated then a new lash is applied on top this means that as your natural lash grows out the false lash will grow with it and therefore not get tangled or cause damage to your natural lashes.This also means that they can be infilled (2-3 weeks) once the false lash has grown out and fallen off with your natural lash.
Thickness.
Eyelash extensions are created with different diameters for different purposes. Avoid anything that is too thick (see above pic).
Thickness .15 mm & .10 mm are most commonly used with classic/elipse lashes.
07 mm, ,06 mm, ,05 mm, ,03 mm are much more lightweight and are used for Russian/volume and Mega volume lashes.
Type.
Classic/elipse/individual lashes are the most natural looking lash services, giving a look of mascara without all the clumping. we use synthetic mink lashes, this service should take between 1hr 15 – 2hrs
Russian/volume are small fans of anything between 2D to 6D lashes (.7mm or .5mm) used to create super glam and volumous sets whilst still remaining natural and subtle. This service can take anywhere between 2hr – 3 hrs to apply.
Hybrids are a mixture of classic and volume.
dont forget about Mega volume!
Mega volume are fans using 7D and over (.5mm or 0.3mm) to create super dense, luscious, fluffy sets. This service can take anywhere between 2hr – 3.5 hrs to apply.
Lash extensions last anywhere between 2 – 4 weeks depending how quick your lashes grow and how well you look after them. We normally recommend an infill between 2 – 3 weeks.
*one last thing! NO you cannot wear mascara with lash extensions! And yes, they are completely waterproof (including swimming, waterparks etc), just don’t rub them or pick them or put anything oily anywhere near them.
Do brush them in the morning and wash them at night. Lash shampoo aftercare kits available with us.
